What a weekend! I love how this weather really lifts everyone’s mood. The sunshine always makes everything feel better, and it definitely feels like summer has finally arrived. As a mobile nail technician in London, I always notice how clients start choosing brighter colours, holiday nails and fun summer BIAB shades as soon as the weather warms up.

We started the weekend after school on Friday at Charlie’s bestie’s house for a water fight. I was definitely the “don’t get me wet, I’ve just washed my hair” mum, unlike the others who got properly involved and ended up soaked!

Saturday we were down in Dorking for a BBQ and 4th birthday celebrations for Millie, then Sunday was spent with my family with a paddling pool, more sunshine and another BBQ. Honestly, I could eat BBQ food every single day in summer.

My own nails had grown out a bit, but the colour still looked amazing. I was wearing Ibiza Blues by The GelBottle Inc and it’s such a perfect bright summer nail colour.

We knew the weather was going to be scorching hot on Monday, so we originally planned to go to a splash park. Then we thought about taking the kids to the beach instead. One of my really good friends moved to Folkestone three years ago, and we always visit during the holidays because our kids all play so nicely together.

After hearing from a friend that it took four hours to get to the beach on Saturday, we were expecting the worst traffic-wise, but at 8am off we set and actually had a lovely drive down to Jill’s house. We walked down to the sandy beach at around 2pm, and while the dads and children splashed in the sea, Jill and I relaxed on the sand. Usually, it’s just the two of us and five children, so having the dads there meant we could actually sit back and chill for once!

Afterwards, we headed to the Folkestone Harbour Arm for a drink and ice cream before going back to the house so the kids could carry on playing. It was such a lovely day.

I did have the weekend off, but before that, I created some gorgeous summery nails for my clients. I’ve been doing one of my oldest friend’s nails for years, but our diaries just wouldn’t align recently, and we somehow ended up going eight weeks between appointments!

Her nails absolutely screamed summer, so much so that I now have the same colour on my own nails. We used Hubba Bubba with Flame layered over the top from The GelBottle Inc and I’m obsessed with the combination. Bright summer BIAB nails and gel manicures are definitely my favourite sets to create this time of year.

I also had my bestie’s hen party last weekend, and her wedding is this Friday! I did the other bridesmaids’ nails the day before the hen, but completely forgot to take after photos. Typical! Here’s one of us while I was just about to start painting Joey’s nails… wine in hand, obviously!
