Did it again!
Last year 3 of us walked the Moonwalk for Brest Cancer Awareness; I must have forgotten how exhausting it was as I agreed to do it this year, thankfully the half again (15 miles, not 26!)
The Moonwalk is in its 20th year, so they had a roaring 20s theme for decorating the bras! Of all the people who decorated their bras about 90% of them stuck with the theme, using feathers and pearls to jazz up their outfits! There were some eye-catching creations! We totally missed the announcement about the theme, but it didn’t matter as we stood out more in our neon sprayed bras, neon tutus, leg warmers and fishnet gloves! I think we looked great!! The route was the same as last year, but because there were 5 of us this year and when we all stopped at the toilet, it must have added at least an hour to our total time. The hardest part for me was the last mile. Going up Queens Town Road which leads onto Clapham Common, it was a struggle, to say the least. But the one thing that kept me going was the reason we were walking. Once we crossed the finish line, we still had a bit further to go to find the taxi, by which point I was ready for bed. At 6am I finally got home, and I didn’t even have the energy to get undressed or take my glittery make-up off! I’m still finding the glitter in my bed now!
The 5 of us raised over £2000 in total and over the 20 years of the Moonwalk the event has raised a whopping £117 MILLION pounds, which is absolutely amazing!
I said never again, but I’m sure I’ll be back again next year raising money for this incredible cause!
