Walking the walk!

The Saturday before last I walked 15 miles through London, starting at 11.15pm all in the name of charity!! Every year the Moonwalk takes place in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness, attracting around 15,000 people (mainly women) to decorate a bra and walk through the night raising money for a fantastic cause. I was asked to join in with two of my regular clients! We had the option to do a half marathon (plus two extra miles) or a full one (26 miles). Thankfully we decided on the half, although next year we’re thinking about the full one! Eeek!!

The 3 of us about to go into the ‘booby tent’.

I got to my client for an early dinner then off we headed to Clapham Common where it all began. The sun was still shining (it was 8pm) but it was getting cold! We got into a tent and had a massage, bought arm warmers, snoods and flashing rings!! A lot of women and some men, walked in bras they’d decorate. We’d decorated ours too but it was so cold I barely took my hoodie off!! They had also laid on food and there was plenty of water for the thirsty walkers. Around 10pm, we got into our groups (we were group 3 of 6) and heard from a few speakers about how the charity has helped them. Then the mass warm up began! One by one the groups left and we hit the road at around 11.15pm, making our way from Clapham Common to Battersea Park, along the Southbank, through the City, passed Buckingham Palace and everywhere in between!! The atmosphere was fantastic, it was quite stop-start at times as we had to cross a few roads, but in total we finished it in 5 hours 16 mins, a time I’m very proud of!! Thanks to all the people who donated as I smashed my target and raised around £450!!!

I did it!

On the nail front, next weekend my brother and his girlfriend are off to Euro Disney for her birthday so she wanted Disney inspired nails, but I had to make sure they weren’t too OTT for the week at work! She found a picture online which I copied which looks like Minnie Mouse’s skirt! I think the big dots look fab, especially with the black French tip. Which is very appropriate as Disneyland is in Paris!
