Professional Beauty Expo 2024

For multiple reasons, I’ve not been to a beauty trade show for a while, but when Joey asked me if I would be up for it this year, as she needs to see what’s new and exciting in the world of facials (since she is setting up her own facial clinic next month), I thought, “Yeah, I get to see all the nail stuff and hang out with my bestie for the day.”

We met at 11 a.m., went straight for some chocolate-covered strawberries, and then headed in. I said I’d mooch around with her, looking at facial machines, then when she had her very important meeting with IIAA, I would see what’s what in the nail area.

Joey was given VIP entry, so we wandered along to collect her goody bag. They very kindly gave me one too, and because she signed up to receive the professional beauty trade magazine, she was given entry to the members’ area and a glass of Prosecco on arrival. We headed straight there to be greeted by tea and coffee and were informed the fizz wasn’t coming out until 1 p.m. (it was 11:30!!!) She met some lovely people, looked at some very interesting machines, and I was so impressed with the Dermapen I almost bought one myself (but I don’t do facials and it was £3000!!!).

Joey went to do her thing, and I headed over to the nail section. I met a lovely lady who started a group called the Nail Tech Tribe. She said it’s for newbies and to help them get started, but even though I’m established, there is still lots to learn. I spun a wheel and won an online masterclass, so I’m excited to see what that is about. I also met the team at Superbooking, a brand-new online booking platform, and I’m keen to join them when they launch.

Gelish had the biggest stand, Glitter Bells had a queue going all around the stand, and there was another brand called Glossify there too. Unfortunately, that was it. Gone are the days of all the huge brands being there. From what I’ve heard, it costs an absolute fortune to have a stand, and the big brands (like the one I use, The Gel Bottle) have enough exposure through social media, etc., so they don’t need to be there.
I bought an e-file and some new cuticle scissors along with some white block files and some gel removal clips.

It was nice to get back to a beauty trade after such a long time, and I can’t wait to go again next year!
